Quanta 2017 - through the eyes of a fresher

An event is said to be a tremendous success only when it surprises and enthralls  its audience. In that manner, Quanta 17, organised by the Society of Materials Science Engineers was truly momentous.

The inauguration day began with the traditional flavour of colourful sarees and the classic dhothi-shirt. The day was declared open by the chief guest of the day,  Dr.Tiju Thomas, a professor at IIT Madras who held an eye-opening interactive session on various developments in the fields of Materials Science. The inauguration was followed by flurry of selfies, in an enjoyable start to the proceedings

The next morning saw the enthusiasm of the participants in front of the department, especially at the registration desk. The society conducted a workshop on the “Simulation of Materials and Manufacturing Process,”  which saw quite the response as people from other colleges rushed in. In order to continue this spirit, the society also conducted many non-technical events which attracted scores of participants. The mysterious thriller D-16 and economic entertainer Proficient Entrepreneurs were both particularly exciting.

The third day was an even better show as nearly 8 events were conducted - with tricky questions in “Tic Toc 21”, the tangled clues in “Far Fetch” and mind-blowing riddles in “Megatronite”, wild noobies in “Mini Militia”, joyful sessions of “Minute to Win” made the day interesting for all the participants. The late afternoon session was instructive and informative as an awareness campaign was conducted on fire safety.

The three days of the symposium concluded with a warm speech by the seniors, accompanied by the swell of emotions many present there felt at the wrapping up of the memorable happenings of Quanta 2017.
